I liked Nicola. She's strong, independent, flawed, tall, not considered a classic beauty. Thinks she's ugly, but not tortured about it.

My problem is with the men in this book, and the whole "taming of the shrew" aspect. Apparently a woman's virtue and looks are the only thing that matter. Blah. The hero is pretty much the only one not like that, except for the virtue thing.
Awe, look at the kitty. ^.^ Also rampant slut-shaming of her childhood friend. God Bless Patriarchy. :P
